Old Phone Booth - Unreal & Substance

This project was inspired by a telephone booth I encountered near where I live. It was so beaten up that it didn't work anymore (it has since been removed). I was drawn in by the sheer amount of detail on it. Layers of graffiti, grime and grunge. It's disgusting and yet there is something beautiful. The many small stories that together make something cohesive and real.
I wanted to recreate this amount of detail as best as I could. For that I took over 100 reference pictures and studied them throughout this project. Because I had so many pictures of it, it was easy to create a graffiti mask with photoshop.
Everything (except the foliage) was modeled by me in 3dsmax. The textures were created in Substance Designer and Substance Painter. Most of the graffitis were hand placed in SP, but for the windows I used a graffiti generator made up of the graffitis I collected. The bike tire material was made in SD. The final scene was rendered in Unreal Engine using the sequencer.
The foliage was from Megascans and the sounds from the video were downloaded from freesound.org

Some of my reference pictures I took. The most difficult thing was knowing ahead of time which angles I needed, as each time I revisited the phone booth it changed. Some part got broken, a new graffiti appeared.
