The Kitchen Generator is a tool made in Houdini that lets you recreate popular designs in minutes! Thanks to the procedural nature of Houdini you can play around and experiment to find just the right look. All models come with UVs, Material IDs and normals. That way artists don't have to bother with any technical work and purely focus on the design. The tool uses a mixture of procedural geometry (for kitchen front designs, workplates and backwalls) and imported custom geometry (for sinks, stoves and kitchen hoods).
This project took around 5 months with some down phases inbetween, but it really started over a year ago when me and Dennis Brunn were both working seperately on our own ideas of a Kitchen Generator. By chance we both joined together and built this tool. It was a great experience, being able to share knowledge with other Houdini artists and having the ability to think much bigger.
For a possible version 2.0 I would like to recreate the entire code with Python as the backbone. This would enable things such as Python handles in the viewport which would greatly increase quality of life and speed up productivity even more.

Various possible designs
The tool also allows for custom mesh inputs for sinks. Notice the boolean cutout happening in the workplate.
Each element first gets a global design assigned to it, but can still be configured individually
Doors can be opened either as a drawer or as wings
Each element can be subdivided into up to 6 partitions that can be individually customized
